Donation of Historical Documents Relating
to Watches to the National Diet Library
Fascinated by watches, our predecessor Ryohei Hotta collected a large number of books and documents on timepieces from Japan and overseas in his enthusiastic efforts to build Japan's watch culture. Toward the end of his life, all of these materials were donated to the National Diet Library. These valuable books and documents make up the "Hotta Collection," which is on permanent display in a special section on the fourth floor of the building. The large number of watch experts who make use of them is a testament to the significant contribute the collection has made to the development of horology in Japan.
Support for the Projects of OISCA-International
OISCA-International is foundation that was established in 1961 with a view to "realizing a world without war and coexistence with nature." To that end, the foundation contributes to agricultural development cooperation, environmental preservation, and personnel training while raising awareness of related issues and promoting initiatives addressing them. As one of OISCA-International's partner companies, Hotta contributes to the foundation's aid projects. In 2000, Hotta commemorated its 120th anniversary by giving support to the Children's Forest Program. In 2002, the Hotta contributed to the construction of a food-processing center within a training center in Myanmar as part of a self-help program for graduate students. Further, in 2003 we deepened our exchanges with local students and other concerned parties by supporting the construction of three primary schools in Myanmar.

The Hotta Group's Kurimoto Earth Village-Providing Safe Vegetables
Located in Kurimoto Village, Chiba Prefecture, the Kurimoto Earth Village puts the concept of coexisting with nature into practice by cultivating more than 60 types of vegetables and grains without using any agrochemicals or chemical fertilizers. Employing a door-to-door delivery system, we provide the produce to approximately 150 households and restaurants. Furthermore, we actively take advantage of the farm's large area to provide land for agricultural trainees and those seeking short-term farming experience or internships.
