Nagoya was the birthplace of modern watch making in Japan. Hotta's history began in 1879, when Ryosuke Hotta established the Hotta Watches store in Nagoya. The wholehearted dedication of the store's employees and management helped shape Japan's timepiece culture from the 1880s through to the 1980s. In 1948, Hotta established a trading division and introduced customers to an array of valuable products as Japan's general agent for imported brand goods. Further, aiming to broaden and enhance our efforts to realize a founding philosophy that advocates "remaining committed to the timeless value of genuine articles" and "continuing to provide customer satisfaction across the ages," we launched forays into jewelry wholesaling and retailing as well as restaurant operations. As a company striving to provide all of its clients with enriched experiences that they will treasure, Hotta focuses on timeless style and pleasure. Although the company was established 130 years ago, Hotta is in no way shackled by its long tradition. We will continue taking on the challenge of creating new value by agilely and sensitively reflecting the needs of the age. That is what we call "Hottaism."
